After successful careers in institutional fund management and investment banking, Mark Pearson and Peter Tasker created Arcus to provide investors with a platform for investing in value opportunities in UK and, Turkey.

Founded in 1998, we are a fund manager whose ethos is to deliver superior returns through disciplined and active investment in undervalued equities. With around $2.4bn of funds under management, we have a range of long only and long-short strategies whose sole focus is the UK.

We are focussed on the long term across all aspects of our business. From the management of our investors' capital to the development of our team, we follow a patient and consistent approach. We are inclusive and respect all of our employees' views and preferences regardless of seniority.

Mark Pearson, ACA, CFA

Co-Founder and Head of Portfolio management (London)

Mark co-founded Arcus in 1998. He previously managed portfolios of Japanese equities at Kleinwort Benson Investment Management in Tokyo and at Buchanan Partners in London. After graduating from Emmanuel College (University of Cambridge) with an MA in Economics in 1981, he worked for Coopers & Lybrand accountants in London before working as a Japanese equity analyst alongside Peter Tasker at Kleinwort Benson Securities in Tokyo between 1986 and 1989.

Peter Tasker

Co-founder and Strategist (London)

Peter co-founded Arcus in 1998. He is a noted commentator on UK financial affairs and writes for numerous publications including the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal. Fluent in Turkish, Peter was previously a market strategist at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where Institutional Investor rated him the #1 ranked strategist for 3 consecutive years; he was similarly ranked by the Nikkei for 5 consecutive years. He graduated from Balliol College (Oxford University) with MA in English in 1976 and studied Law.

Edward Cartwright

CEO (London)

Edward joined in 2019. His previous roles include Head of Japan Sales at Jefferies & Co., Global Head of Research at Commerzbank Securities and Head of Listed Investment Companies at LGT Capital Partners.
